“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing,

wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating;

there is really no such thing as bad weather,

only different kinds of good weather.”

—John Ruskin

welcome

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice with two locations in Southern California: West Los Angeles and Sherman Oaks. I also offer telehealth services to anyone living in the state of California.

Rooted in postmodern philosophy, I incorporate emerging concepts from neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, resiliency models, and somatic methods, including EMDR. I work primarily with adults who struggle with complex symptoms that are often the result of challenging or toxic childhood experiences including attachment disorders (issues with early caregivers), religious trauma syndrome, abuse, neglect, etc

Those who experience the complex trauma that can emerge from deeply guarded adverse experiences often find it unbearable to address certain pieces of their life experience. For that reason, my primary focus is emotional safety. The client is always in charge of the process. Together, we will pay attention to the body (symptoms) even when the "thinking brain" wants to keep going.

Every human being has unique strengths, talents, and resources that often remain obscured or minimized amidst an onslaught of pervasive life distress. Most of us have the ability to work through challenges by leaning on our support systems and drawing upon our own internal strengths. When those challenges become more complex or more prolonged, our usual strategies are no longer helpful.

This is where our work together begins.

Many clients report that they experience enduring "stuckness." Stuckness has many faces and may include persistent depression and anxiety, extreme emotional dysregulation (mood swings), crisis and trauma, difficult life transitions, issues of aging, and relationship concerns. Together, we will specifically address the complexities that manifest as a result of particularly difficult experiences (past or present) or the effects of everyday stress. Additionally, I work with those who are struggling with, or recovering from, various forms of self-destruction or self-harm (such as addiction and substance abuse, impulsivity, eating and body image disorders, isolation, cutting, etc.).

Also, I do specialized work with clients who are partners in relationships with sex addicts to address the individual and relational trauma resulting from this deeply painful intimate betrayal.
